What Are Gimkit Assignments?
Assignments are independent tasks students can complete without being in a live session. Once you set one up, students can participate at their own pace until they reach your chosen objective.
Quick Setup
Creating a new task takes just a few easy steps. Here's how you do it:
1. Select the Content (Kit)
Begin by picking a kit you'd like to use for your assignment.
Step | Action |
---|---|
1 | Open your dashboard |
2 | Choose a kit |
2. Pick the Game Type
After selecting your kit, choose a 2D solo-compatible mode. Team-based or group-required formats are not allowed for assignments.
Allowed Modes | Not Allowed |
---|---|
Solo 2D Modes | Team/Group Modes |
3. Adjust Game Preferences
Now, configure how you want the game to run. Change the game options to fit the goal of the assignment.
Option Type | Description |
---|---|
Game Mechanics | Adjust gameplay behavior |
Goal Settings | Define what students reach |
Renaming the Assignment
By default, the assignment name is created using the kit and mode selected. You can click on the title while viewing the assignment to change it.
Sharing the Assignment
You can send the task to your students by copying the assignment link. This single link works for all your classes, no matter how many are included.
Student Experience
Once students receive the link, they work on the assignment to meet the target. The goal you decide is what they must achieve to finish.
Monitoring Your Assignments
Click the Assignments section from your dashboard to view all your active and past tasks.
Status | Icon Color |
---|---|
On-Time | Standard |
Past Deadline | Orange |
Viewing Results
To see how students performed, go to the Assignments list and click the one you want to check. Select the Results tab to see individual and group outcomes.
You can sort or filter the data using the menu on the left side.
Report Details
Data becomes available in the assignment’s result section when a student finishes the task. You can track each class separately, even if more than one class is added to the same assignment.
Click Open Report within the assignment to see the complete data.
Access Through Kit View
You can also open the original kit used and access reports from there. Simply click Reports, then select the assignment from the options listed.
Suggestions for Best Use
Assignments are ideal when combined with class structures, but you can still work individually.
Do you want your students to review without deadlines or grades? Use the Practice button in any kit. Share the link so they can answer questions freely without tracking or scoring involved.
Note: Only users with a Gimkit Pro (paid) membership can access assignments.
